Re:
HF 2578 - CAT funding
Dear Senator
I am writing to request your efforts to support HF 2578, which provides funding for
Community Attraction and Tourism (CAT). As you know, the City of Dubuque receives
over one million tourist annually and that number is expected to grow with the opening
of the America's River project which includes the National Mississippi River Museum
and Aquarium, The Grand Harbor Resort and Waterpark, the Grand River Center, the
American Trust Rivers Edge Plaza, the Alliant Energy Amphitheater and the Mississippi
Riverwalk, The America's River project and similar projects in other lowas communities
would not have been possible without the support of State funding such as the Vision
Iowa and CAT programs. In addition local attractions such as the Grand Opera House,
which has increased the quality of arts in the Dubuque community, has benefited from
the CAT program.
I urge you to support HF 2578, which will provide funding for the CAT program and help
keep tourism alive in Iowa.
Sincerely,
Michael C, Van Milligen
City Manager
