Rebranding campaign for Keyline Transit  begins. New method of advertising on outside of  buses: bus wraps. Advertising on inside of buses is free for  non-profits. Re-branding Campaign Participants included the general public,  (then) Keyline passengers, local businesses and City employees. City Council selects The Jule -named for  Julien Dubuque, the founder of the city -as the transit system’s new name. Beginning the Move Forward Three new buses (1 heavy duty and 2 light duty)  were ordered using State and ARRA grants. Red Line Extension (West End Tripper), funded  with a JARC grant, went into effect August 2010. City signs a 4-year lease agreement with RTA for  two (new) Sprinter buses. The Medical Loop route, funded with a JARC  grant, went into effect December 1, 2010. Medical Loop •Recommended by the 2009 LSC Study. •Hourly service to medical clinics and surrounding area, and S. Locust Hy-Vee. •“On Demand” service to (e.g.) Mystique, YMCA and KeyWest area including DMV, Mt. Carmel. Jackpot! State of Good Repairs grant (SGR) was  awarded for $2.3 million dollars. Clean Fuels grant (CF) was awarded for $1.5  million dollars. The funding from these two grants will  allow for the replacement of The Jule’s entire fleet! Current Fleet Iowa’s Public Transit Fleet is 2oldest in the nation. nd  Dubuque has the oldest transit system west of the  Mississippi, and its current fleet is one of the oldest. New fleet engines will all use Clean Diesel technology,  resulting a better fuel efficiency and lower emissions. This will results in a 1.6% savings on Property Taxes. $ 142,611 savings in fuel costs  $ 212,948 savings in maintenance costs  Partnerships A Public Transit Infrastructure grant (PTIG) for $298,375  was awarded for the Phase I building of the Area Residential Care (ARC) Transfer Center at JFK Circle. The two Sprinter buses leased from RTA (arrived late  December 2010). To increase their efficiency and effectiveness the  fixed routes will be reviewed and restructured. Potential route of the Shopping Circulator •Based on 2009 LSC Study, links major shopping and business centers on the west end of Dubuque on hourly basis •Transfers to/from the Red, Green and Grey Lines at JFK Circle The Future ITS equipment will be installed on fixed  route buses and mini buses. Intermodal feasibility study, site selection  and design. Assessment of pubic transit needs for  students attending local colleges and universities. Electronic Fare Collection (Fixed Route) Mobile Data Terminals (Mini Bus) •Designed specifically for use on Mini Bus service •Allows for real-time dispatching •Improves communication between Dispatch and Driver •Enables better tracking of ridership data Automatic Vehicle Location (fixed route) Intermodal Centers can add new sources of income to transit while spurring area growth Thank-you!
