Ordinance Amendment_No Parking Area for Fire Department VehiclesMasterpiece on the Mississippi Dubuque AA- AmdlcaCityâ–º 1 2007 TO: The Honorable Mayor and City Council Members FROM: Michael C. Van Milligen, City Manager SUBJECT: Ordinance Amendment - No Parking Area for Fire Department Vehicles DATE: March 1, 2011 In conjunction with the construction of the new parking ramp and fire headquarters expansion, Fire Chief Dan Brown has requested that additional street parking be reserved for parking of fire department vehicles. With the construction of the parking ramp, the available parking of fire department vehicles behind the current station has been taken away. Chief Brown indicated that this was valuable space for them when vehicles from outlaying stations were required to come to headquarters for filling of air tanks and other necessary trips to headquarters. There is insufficient length of the front apron area to allow vehicles to park there without encroaching into the sidewalk area in front of the station on 9 Street. Parking System Supervisor Tim Horsfield recommends City Council approval to reserve the parking area on Central Avenue from 9th Street to the entrance of the new ramp at 975 Central on the west side only for parking of official fire department vehicles 7 days per week, 24 hours per day. I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council approval.
