Honorable Mayor and City Council Members,
I'm writing in response to your general call to fill the vacant position for City Council
Member representing the 4th Ward. I am a life long resident of the City of Dubuque and
have resided in the 4th Ward for the past 12 years. I have displayed an interest in serving
the citizenry of Dubuque over the past several years; I ran for this Council Seat in its last
election, served as a member of the City Council Task Force on Wage Compensation,
and have attended a majority of the City Council meetings in the past 4 years. My
current work arrangement follows a 4 nights on / 4 nights off schedule resulting in a
rotating evening availability, however my employer (Progressive Processing) has
committed to make my time available should I be selected to serve as a Council
Member. This work arrangement also allows for more available time than most other
applicants for city functions that occur during the day.
I'd like the opportunity to tell you more about my passion and experiences and how I
would contribute to the successful management of the strategic directions being
developed for the City of Dubuque. Having known past and present City Council
Members I have a good understanding of the responsibilities of the position. I'd be
happy to supply strong references at your request.
