Minutes Civil Service 3 4 04 CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION Date: Thursday, March 4, 2004 Time: 11:30 a.m. Place of Meeting: City Hall- City Clerk's Office Present: Chairperson Dick Wertzberger, Commissioner Loras Kluesner Absent: Commissioner Merte Duehr Also Present: Personnel Director Randy Peck; Finance Director Ken TeKippe; Police Chief Kim Wadding 1. Approval of Minutes of February 11 and 23, 2004 Commissioner Kluesner moved to approve the minutes of February 11 and 23, 2004 as distributed. Seconded by Wertzberger; passed unanimously. 2. City of Dubuque v. Civil Service Commission of the City of Dubuque in the Matter of the Appeal of Jeffrey Simons Upon motion, the City Clerk was directed to contact Attorney Mike Coyle to ask if he would represent the Civil Service Commission in the City of Dubuque v. Civil Service Commission in the matter of the appeal of Jeffrey Simons. 3. Establish Passing Point and Certify List for Position of Cashier Commissioner Kluesner moved to establish a passing point of 84 and above correct answers for the position of Cashier. Seconded by Wertzberger; passed unanimously. Kluesner moved that the list be certified as read. Seconded by Wertzberger; passed unanimously. 4. Request to Schedule Entrance Examination for the Position of Police Officer Personnel Manager Randy Peck reviewed the certification process for the position of Police Officer and various aspectsofthe recommendation. Commissioner Kluesner moved to schedule an entrance examination for the position of Police Officer on May 1, 2004 at Loras College at 9:00 a.m. for the written test and approximately 10:00 a.m. for the agility test and that the deadline for applications be 5:00 p.m. on April 1, 2004. Seconded by Wertzberger; passed unanimously. Commissioner Kluesner moved to accept transfer scores from the past twelve months; that the POST test be the testing instrument; that a structured oral interview be part of the certification process; that the agility test be a pass/fail test; and that there would be no remote testing. Seconded by Wertzberger, passed unanimously. There being no further business, upon motion the meeting adjoumed at 12:05 p.m. Æ~ ~~ ~~£J~ Approved
