Minutes_Cable Community Teleprogramming Commission 1 4 11MINUTES OF CABLE COMMUNITY TELEPROGRAMMING COMMISSION MEETING January 4, 2011 CITY HALL ANNEX — 2nd FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM #2 MEMBERS PRESENT: Pauline Maloney, Sr. Carol Hoverman, Alan Vincent, Jennifer Tigges, George Herrig. MEMBERS ABSENT: Two seats are vacant on the Commission. OTHERS PRESENT: Jim Barefoot, Mediacom Craig Nowack, City of Dubuque Mr. Vincent called the meeting to order at 4:05 p.m. Acceptance of the Agenda Upon a motion by Ms. Maloney, seconded by Mr. Herrig, the agenda was accepted 5 - 0. Approval of the Minutes of the December 7, 2010, Meeting Upon a motion by Sr. Hoverman, seconded by Ms. Tigges, the Minutes of the December 7, 2010, Meeting were approved 5 — 0. Public Notice There was no public input. PEG Digitization Update Mr. Nowack discussed the reaction he has received regarding four of the PEG channels moving to the digital broadcast basic tier. The few phone calls he has received have mostly had to do with getting the free DTA box. Mr. Barefoot also said he had heard no complaints. Both discussed the on -air announcements they ran to announce the change. Mr. Barefoot prepared a flyer which he gave to access producers as they stopped in at Mediacom. Mr. Vincent expressed some confusion about QAM tuners and digital subchannels which led to a discussion of digital television. Mediacom Cable Report Mr. Barefoot provided reports showing scheduling templates for the public access cable channels and programs produced by the various producers who submit programming for air. A discussion followed about ways to get the program schedules on a website. Cable TV Report Mr. Nowack discussed his involvement in the school district's desire to begin using the scheduling portion of their Cablecast system. He will be training a staff person on how to do this and is checking to see if some re- wiring needs to be done at their facility. He updated the Commission on the wiring project at the ice arena, on programs in production, and reminded them of the Cable TV budget presentation on February 9.
