Fourth Ward Vacancy Appointment_Lynn SuttonPROPOSED 4 TH WARD SELECTION PROCESS FOR MARCH 21 CITY COUNCIL MEETING I think this approach will get to a majority selection the quickest. It also assures that the candidate selected is at least the first, second, or third choice of all of the council members. 1. Each council member must pick one candidate. a. If there are 4 votes for one candidate, the selection process is complete. b. If no candidate gets 4 votes, go to step 2. 2. Each council member must pick two different candidates. a. If no candidate gets 4 votes, go to step 3. b. If more than one candidate receives 4 votes, the candidate with the highest number of votes is selected. c. If more than one candidate receives 4 votes and there is a tie, each council member must pick one of the tied candidates. i. The candidate with the highest number of votes is selected. ii. If there is a tie, each council member must pick one candidate from among the tied candidates. a) The candidate with the highest number of votes is selected. b) If there is a tie among the candidates, the council will have to discuss the relative qualifications of the tied candidates and re -vote until there is a plurality for one of the candidates. 3.
