Message: Dear Council Members, We have been notified of the intent of the City to require extension of the sewer system to
to our neighborhood, the private portion of Laurel Street, and the need for us to connect to that system. Our home has been
here for at least 55 years and some others in the neighborhood longer than that. We have no knowledge, personal or
otherwise, of failure of any of the systems with attendant health risk. Our location does not lend itself easily to installation of
and connection to the proposed sewer system. It will require that we pump against gravity for considerable distances with all
the initial and ongoing expense and the risk of failure and subsequent damage to our property. Discussions with others who
have sewage pumps are consistent in that the pumps tend to fail after three or four years and require replacement at
considerable expense. Not the least disturbing is the prospect of having to find other lodging during the downtime which can
occur at any time of day or night. In view of the apparent lack of a health threat from any of our systems, we ask that you
