SUBJECT: Dubuque Greyhound Park & Casino
The City has received a request from Dubuque Greyhound Park and Casino for a
temporary stop sign at the 3-way intersection of Admiral Sheehy Drive and Dubuque
Greyhound Park Drive. The signs would be there until the end of construction, which is
anticipated to be Memorial Day 2005.
The stop signs are needed because the construction at Dubuque Greyhound Park and
Casino will cause a significant amount of traffic to route through this intersection.
Greyhound Park security has already witnessed some near-misses at this intersection.
The Engineering Department has not had time to analyze this request, but would do so
between now and Memorial Day 2005, to see if the change should be made permanent.
I respectfully request Mayor and City Council approval of these temporary stop signs.

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF
DUBUQUE, IOWA, BY MODIFYING SUBSECTION (b) OF SECTION 32-214
THEREOF PROVIDING FOR THE ADDITION OF STOP SIGNS AT THE
INTERSECTION OF ADMIRAL SHEEHY DRIVE AND GREYHOUND PARK
ROAD
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA:
Section 1. That the Code of Ordinances of the City of Dubuque, Iowa,
by adding Admiral Sheehy Drive and Greyhound Park Road to Subsection (b) of
Section 32-214 thereof as follows:
"Sec. 32-214.
Stop Intersections.
(b)
NORTHBOUND AND SOUTHBOUND
Admiral Sheehy Drive and Greyhound Park Road
EASTBOUND
Greyhound Park Road and Admiral Sheehy Drive
Passed, approved, and adopted this 21st of June, 2004.
