CASE #:
04-00210
605 BLUFF ST
DUBUQUE, IA 52001
MOTION: TOM HANNAN
SECOND: BILL KINSELLA
Steven Kieler, agent for 605 Bluff Street, requested an
extension of time until July 31, 2004 to complete work on
the northwest fire escape (inadequate guardrail). They are
in the process of selling the building and prefer to not
make the costly repairs, until they know what they are going
to do with the building. They are having an environmental
investigation on the entire building, which includes
analysis of the fire escapes.
Inspections are S8 Annual and S8 Initial.
Tim Moler, Housing Inspector, spoke to the agent and found
out the property will be auctioned May 25, 2004 and they
were not going to have IIW look at the stairs until after
I
..
the auction. Tim told Steve Kieler (agent) to let the
present owner know that the fire escapes have to be
inspected now. Steve said he would have IIW give us a report
on the condition on the fire escape.
This was tabled at the May 18, 2004 Appeals Board meeting so
the owner can have the fire escapes inspected by IIW and
bring the report to the June 15, 2004 Appeals Board meeting.
The owner appeared at the June 15, 2004 Appeals Board
meeting to report that the building was sold at auction. The
closing is to be prior to June 25, 2004.
Tim Moler, Housing Inspector, stated the Board is requiring:
1. Inspection of the fire escapes to determine if they
are structually sound.
2. Closing up guardrail spacing to 4" or less.
The owner stated he thought that with the extension of time
these things could be completed.
TOM HANNAN MOTIONED TO GRANT THE EXTENSION OF TIME UNTIL
JULY 31, 2004.
BILL KINSELLA SECONDED. MOTION PASSED 6-0.
