Jim Dixon called the meeting to order at 4:01 P.M.
The minutes of the previous meeting were not available.
Agenda Item: Discuss maintenance permits and getting permits of work other than
maintenance work.
After discussion on the topic, it was decided to get more information on the subject. Define
what maintenance work is, call other cities to see how they handle the situation, and see if
Dubuque still offers maintenance electrical licenses. The item was tabled until more
information was available. Motion to table by Paul Uhlrich. Seconded by Ron Mueller. All in
favor. Motion to table was approved.
Agenda Item: Discuss electricians doing work without being licensed and registered with
the State of Iowa.
After discussion on the topic, it was decided to keep the board updated on the situation
regarding the Water Pollution Control Plant. (WPCP) After finding out about electricians
working without a license at the WPCP and along with direction from the City Manager,
Legal Department, and Engineering Department, it was decided all electricians without
licenses and registered with the State of Iowa will be removed from the jobsite. Also, any
electrician who will be working on the job must be licensed and registered with the State of
Iowa before coming to the jobsite. Elaine Reiss moved to approve the action. Seconded by
Kevin Pfohl.
