Van Milligen, City Manager SUBJECT: Final Acceptance of the Fourth Zone Water Tower Project The City entered into an agreement with Landmark Structures 1, loP. for the construction of a water tower to be located next to the Soccer Complex on John F. Kennedy Road. Water Department Manager Bob Green is recommending acceptance of the Fourth Zone Water Tower Project, as completed by Landmark Structures 1 L.P., in the final contract amount of $1 ,234,770.11. During construction of the project, six change orders were processed for a total change order amount of $28,770.11. The change order total of $28,770.11 is a 2.4% increase in the contract and is still within the budgeted amount of funds for the project. It is further recommended that the City Council authorize the final payment to Landmark Structures 1 L.P. in the amount of $61 ,738.50. Van Milligen, City Manager Bob Green, Water Department Manager ~ TO: SUBJECT: Final Acceptance of the Fourth Zone Water Tower Project INTRODUCTION This memorandum is recommending a final acceptance of the Fourth Zone Water Tower at a final cost of $1 ,234,770.11. DISCUSSION On October 21, 2002, the City of Dubuque Water Department entered into an agreement with Landmark Structures 1, loP. for the construction of a water tower to be located next to the Soccer Complex on John F. Kennedy Road. This water tower improvement will supply water service to residents in this area, the Fairgrounds and is a part of a multiphase project in providing water to the Westside Industrial Park. The original contract price for the project was $1,206,000. During the construction of the project, six change orders were processed for a total change order amount of $28,770.11. The change order total of $28,770.11 is a 2.4% increase in the contract and is still within the budgeted amount of funds for the project. The following work was required, resulting in the six change orders: Installation of PVC coated chain link fence, modifications to the storm sewer and driveway approach, removal of unstable soil in driveway and replaced with granular material, blue colored bands as part of the logo design on tank as per approved design, installation of sewer trap in the sanitary sewer line, additional 16 inch water main fittings, and sod work to the site. ACTION REQUESTED Staff and I are requesting your approval and recommendation to the City Council that they adopt the two resolutions, one approving the project and one approving the final project cost of $1 ,234,770.11 and authorizing final payment to Landmark Structures 1 loP. in the amount of $61 ,738.50 in accordance with the State of Iowa Statutes. vie cc: File Preparer: Robert M. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA: Section 1. That the recommendation of the City Manager be approved and that said improvement be accepted. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA: Section 1. $1,234,770.11. That the cost of the said improvement is hereby determined to be Section 2. That the final payment of $61 ,738.50 be paid to Landmark Structures 1, L. P. in accordance with State Statutes from funds in the Water Department's FY03 CIP Budget.
