Lead Hazard and Healthy Homes ProgramMasterpiece on the Mississippi TO: The Honorable Mayor and City Council Members FROM: Michael C. Van Milligen, City Manager SUBJECT: Amendment to Lead Hazard Reduction and Healthy Homes Program Awards DATE: April 26, 2011 The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) recently approved awards of $3,099,948 and $999,973, respectively, for the Lead Hazard and Healthy Homes grants. The matching funds required for the combined applications totaled $901,098. Because Dubuque received both awards, and because grant activities will be combined in many cases for delivery of services, the required match has been reduced to $683,586. For this reason, an amendment to both grants must be executed to reflect that reduction. Housing and Community Development Department Director David Harris recommends City Council approval of the execution of the amendments to the contracts for the lead Hazard Reduction and Health Homes Program awards. I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council approval. Michael C.
