"'-.',.. - 391 Henningson Durham & Richardson. Mr. Ombruui stated that BOD, a vital pollution control measure is averaging 234,092# a day compar- ed with the 98,692 daily average the City's new secondary treat- ment plant was designed to handle, under normal conditions. The in- dustrial waste contributions to the sewer system is causing the odor problem. The BOD count is ap, proximately equivalent to that you would expect to find at a plant serving 1.3 million people. The plant also is receiving an average of 130,000 pounds daily of sus- pended solids, which is 29% above the desigo standard. The whole problem is that the plant is over- loaded. Arrangements have been made with 15 local industries to meet with City Engineer White and other city officials to find out where the excessive waste dispo- sal is coming from. The problem must be taken care of at the in- dustry level.
