PROCLAMA TION
WHEREAS,
on November 2,2002, President Bush signed Public law 107-288 the
Jobs for Veterans Act, to revise and improve employment, training
and placement services furnished to veterans and also authorized
the Secretary of labor to establish the President's National Hire
Veterans Committee; and
WHEREAS, awareness is being increased among employers about the value and
value-added features of hiring veterans while at the same time
linking employers to veterans; and
WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of labor's "Hire Vets First" campaign has been
launched in late September with a website address of:
www.hirevetsfirst.aov and also a toll-free phone number of 1-877-
US2-JOBS; and
WHEREAS, One-Stop Career Centers are at the center of the campaign as to the
location where businesses can go to receive assistance in recruiting
and connecting to veterans.
NOW THEREFORE, I, TERRANCE M. DUGGAN, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF
DUBUQUE, IOWA, DO HEREBY RECOGNIZE THE NATIONAL CAMPAIGN TITLED:
"Hire Vets First"
