Vice Chairperson Paul Newman called the meeting to order at 5:05 p.m. following staff
assurance of compliance with Iowa Open Meeting Law.

Review and Certification of Minutes of 18 January 2011 Housing Code Appeals Board
Meeting
Dave Young motioned to approve the minutes. Fred Miller seconded. Motion passed 4 -0.
Correspondence /Public Input
There was no correspondence or public input.
Consent Agenda
The consent agenda items are considered to be routine and non - controversial and all consent
items will be normally voted upon in a single motion without any separate discussion on a
particular item.
The following property owners have requested an extension of time to complete repairs. The
Housing and Community Development staff concurs with the extension of time requested and
respectfully requests Housing Appeals Board approval.
There were no consent agenda items to discuss.
ALL DEFICIENCIES AND MOTIONS ARE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE DUBUQUE
HOUSING CODE UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED. EXTENSIONS OF TIME ARE GRANTED
IN ACCORDANCE WITH TITLE 6 SECTION 6 -9F(1) AND VARIANCES ARE GRANTED IN
ACCORDANCE WITH TITLE 6 SECTION 6- 9F(2).
New Business
CASE #1
Chad Walsh, B &C Cathedral Development LLC, is requesting variances for bedroom windows
that don't meet housing requirements at 205 Bluff Street.
This is an Urban Revitalization Application appeal.
Bill Kinsella moved to grant the variance as the owner has complied with all the building code
requirements. Dave Young seconded. Motion passed 4 -0.
CASE #2
Aiman Al -Qady, owner of 605 Bluff Street, is requesting an extension of time to June 1, 2011, to
replace windows in front of property in units damaged by fire.
This is a GH Inspection.
Inspector is requiring that windows in the front of the property be installed. Owner is requesting
extension as they are dealing with the insurance company and they are also a custom size that
will require over 60 days to construct. Bob Boge informed the Board that the Housing office can
allow up to a six month extension and the board could offer an additional 90 days.
David Young motioned to grant an extension to September 1, 2011. Fred Miller seconded.
Motion passed 4 -0.
