RE: Long Range Planning Advisory Commission Vacancy
Dear Mayor and City Council Members:
The Long Range Planning Advisory Commission (LRPAC) has discussed candidates to
serve on the Commission.
On May 2, 2011, City Council passed ordinance 31 -11 which eliminated the City Council
Liaison position and created a vacancy for a resident position on the LRPAC.
The LRPAC discussed the need to achieve greater gender balance on the Commission.
The Commission believes reaching out to local women's organizations may help identify
potential female candidates to serve on the Commission. The Commission also
discussed the positive contributions a minority candidate would make on the
Commission.
By a vote of 5 - 0, the LRPAC respectfully requests that City Council give strong
consideration to gender equality and diversity when considering applicants.
