PROCLAMA TION
WHEREAS, The Optimist International Organization has declared the entire month of
November as "Youth Appreciation Month" in recognition of the youth who
are upholding the dignity of youth; and
WHEREAS,
The Morning Optimist Club, under the direction of Melinda Rettenberger,
recognizes the youth at Hillcrest Family Services who voluntarily gave their
time and talents to assist the Morning Optimists in operating their booth at
the 51st Annual Dubuque County Fair and in raising the second-highest-
ever amount of funds that go to support youth and families throughout the
Dubuque area; and
WHEREAS,
The Noon Optimist Club, under the direction of Joan Steve, recognizes the
Dubuque Colts Youth Chorale and Youth Singers, made up of about 100
members, local youth grades 2-8, who rehearse weekly and perform
throughout Northeast Iowa, bringing the gift of music, cheer and friendship
to many; and
WHEREAS,
The Evening Optimist Club, under the direction of Darrell Whitt, recognizes
the Safety Patrol of the Dubuque Community School District who cheerfully
aid their peers in safely traversing the City streets on their way to and from
their respective schools.
NOW THEREFORE, I, TERRANCE M. DUGGAN, MA YOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE,
IOWA, PROCLAIM THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER, 2004 AS:
"YOUTH APPRECIA TION MONTH"
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, AND URGE EVERYONE TO RECOGNIZE AND APPRECIA TE
THESE INDIVIDUALS AND ALL YOUTH THA T WORK TOWARD
CREA TING A BETTER COMMUNITY.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my
hand and caused the Great Seal of the City of
Dubuque, IA to be affixed this 1st day of
