This is a claim in which the claimant alleges that the front yard and basement of his
residence located at 3597 Crescent Court, sustained water damage due to a broken City
water line located near 3953 Crescent Court, which occurred on October 7, 2004.
According to the report of Bob Green, Water Department Manager, claimant did have a
considerable amount of soil damage to his property due to a City watermain break near
his home.
Mr. Green states that the requested reimbursement amount by claimant for cleanup costs
is comparable to that of a professional company, and it is therefore his recommendation
that this claim be approved for the amount of $250.00. The Legal Department concurs
with this recommendation.

SUBJECT: Leroy R. Cain Damage Claim - 3593 Crescent Court
TO:
In reviewing this claim with staff, it was discovered that these people did have a
considerable amount of soil damage to their property due to a city watermain break
near their home.
Typically, we do not compensate people who perform their own clean up. But this claim
seems to be reasonable in comparison to the cost of having the house cleaned by a
professional company such as Steam Masters.
Since we have made exceptions before and due to this claim amount being within
reason, it is staffs and my recommendation that the claim in the amount of $250.00 be
paid.
