Dear Mississippi River Friend:
I am pleased to announce that the uRiver of Dreams"
partnering Conference will be held June 15-17, 2000, in.
St. Louis, Missouri. The Mississippi Valley Division, U.S. Army
Corps of Engineers will serve as host of the conference. We are
looking forward to having representatives from all levels of
government, various organizations, and associations that have an
interest in the river. Our hope is this conference will continue
to promote understanding and cooperation though partnerships
among all parties in the river corridor.
Participants will be given an opportunity to interact with
the Mississippi River Caucus (Congressional members with an
interest in the Mississippi Valley) as well as one another to
discuss and address the needs and opportunities related to water
resources in the Mississippi River Valley and their impact on the
region. In order for the Mississippi Valley to remain a viable
resource in serving the Nation in the 21st century, it is
critical that we join together and identify areas of common
interest for the good of the valley. The conference is being
developed around the following objectives:
-- To develop action/aqenda items that address the needs and
opportunities related to water resources in the uMississippi
River Valley" and their impact on the region.
-- Continue to promote understanding and cooperation through
partnerships among all parties in the uriver corridor."
The enclosed flyer provides basic information on the
conference--dates, location, and objectives. A detailed
registration package, which will include a tentative agenda and
other information for the conference will be mailed to you in
early April. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend.
