Census Week and Day Proclam
WHEREAS, the U.S. Census is required every ten years by the Constitution of the
United States; and
WHEREAS, the Census results are the basis for fair political representation for
all citizens; and
WHEREAS, the Census results are the basis for funding many programs
important to the City of Dubuque, Iowa; and
WHEREAS, the goal of the Iowa Census 2000 is 100 percent participation by all
Iowans; and
WHEREAS, the Dubuque Complete Count Committee has developed a public
relations campaign to promote 100 percent participation in Census
2000, by all residents of Dubuque, Iowa.
NOW THEREFORE, I, TERRANCE M. DUGGAN, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF
DUBUQUE, IOWA DO HEREBY PROCLAIM THE WEEK OF MARCH 27 - APRIL 1,
2000, AS:
"CENSUS WEEK"
AND APRIL 1, 2000 AS:
"CENSUS DA Y"
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have
