WHEREAS, Square Dancing is an integral part of the heritage of our great State of
Iowa and our United States; and
WHEREAS, dancing incorporates physical exercise, stimulating music, conviviality,
fun, friendliness and good fellowship in a unique way; and
WHEREAS, Dubuque has been privileged in the past years of 1976, 1982, 1988 and
1994 to host the Iowa Square and Round Dance Convention; and
WHEREAS, once again on March 31st and April 1st, 2000, the Iowa State Square
and Round Dance Convention will be held at our Five Flags Civic
Center, the Holiday Inn Five Flags and the Julien Inn; and
WHEREAS, this Convention will bring more than 1000 square and round dancers
to Dubuque to attend the Convention on March 31st and April 1st, 2000.
NOW THEREFORE, I, TERRANCE M. DUGGAN, MA YOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE,
IOWA, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM THE WEEK OF MARCH 26th to APRIL 2nd, 2000 AS;
"SQUARE DANCE WEEK"
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE AND URGE ALL OF OUR CITIZENS TO RECOGNIZE THE
VALUE AND ENJOYMENT OF DANCE AND TO OFFER A SINCERE WELCOME TO
THESE DELIGHTFUL GUESTS OF OUR CITY.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set
my hand and caused the Great Seal of the
City of Dubuque, IA to be affixed this 20th
