Proclamation_Bank On Dubuque Month July 2011
PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, Bank On Dubuque is a partnership of local banks, credit unions, and non-profit
organizations convened by the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque to offer
free or low-cost accounts and financial education; and
WHEREAS, access to financial institutions is necessary to build the solvency of families and the
well being of the community; and
WHEREAS, the City of Dubuque has around 1,000 unbanked and 4,000 under-banked
households; and
WHEREAS, Bank On Dubuque is an inclusive program which offers everyone, even those who
have never had an account or have had problems with an account in the past, to
open an account and begin managing their money to save for their future; and
WHEREAS, the staff of participating banks and credit unions of Bank On Dubuque are trained to
answer questions and offer knowledge on staying on a budget, managing a checking
account, improving credit ratings, paying off debt, and saving for the future; and
WHEREAS, Bank On Dubuque offers free classes and services to assist individuals in achieving
financial freedom; and
WHEREAS,Bank On Dubuque helps individuals take an important step toward financial security
and allows them to establish a credit history in order to achieve their dreams.
NOW THEREFORE, I, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, ON BEHALF OF
THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF, AND CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM THE MONTH
OF JULY 2011, AS
“Bank On Dubuque Month”
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, and encourage citizens to learn more about Bank On Dubuque
