Traffic Sig removal 16 Sycamor D~ ~<k~ MEMORANDUM November 29, 2004 TO: The Honorable Mayor and City Council Members FROM: Michael C. Van Milligen, City Manager SUBJECT: Permanent Traffic Signal Removal at 16th/Sycamore The traffic signal at the intersection of 16th and Sycamore Streets was originally constructed to accommodate the traffic created between the Greyhound Park and the former FDL Foods, Inc. When the meat processing plant closed, the signals were turned off, bagged and replaced with signage. Due to changes in traffic patterns along the 16th and Sycamore intersection, Acting Public Works Director/City Engineer Gus Psihoyos recommends adoption of a resolution directing the City Manager to remove the traffic signal at 16th and Sycamore Streets. This traffic signal was originally constructed to accommodate the traffic created between the Greyhound Park and the former FDL Foods, Inc. When the meat processing plant closed down, the signals were turned off, bagged, and replaced with signage. Over time this remaining signal equipment has been damaged and not replaced. ACTION TO BE TAKEN The City Council is requested to adopt the attached resolution directing the City Manager to remove the traffic signal at 16th and Sycamore Streets.
