Proclamation_United Way Campaign Time
PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, United Way is the premier, federated organization which increases the
organized capacity of Tri-State residents to care for one another, raise
funds for the communities’ needs and allocate to those needs; and
WHEREAS, all residents of the Tri-State Community greatly benefit from the programs
and services funded by United Way agencies serving our community; and
WHEREAS, through a judicious study of human-care needs, it has been determined
that $1,900,000 is needed to cover the more pressing community services
of health and welfare agencies and special projects for the coming year;
and
WHEREAS, giving to these multiple causes through the medium of the United Way is a
democratic, humanitarian, accountable and efficient way of meeting these
community obligations; and
WHEREAS, United Way Services, Inc., now conducts year-round campaigning with the
2011-2012 Campaign officially starting in September 2011.
NOW THEREFORE, I, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, ON
BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND CITIZENS EXTEND CONGRATULATIONS
TO THE UNITED WAY SERVICES BOARD OF TRUSTEES, VOLUNTEERS AND STAFF,
FOR ITS 83 YEARS OF SERVICE AND DO HEREBY PROCLAIM IT’S THE 2011-2012
"UNITED WAY CAMPAIGN TIME"
AND URGE EVERY RESIDENT AND PERSON EMPLOYED IN THE DUBUQUE AREA TO
SUPPORT UNITED WAY SERVICES’ YEAR-ROUND EFFORT BY CONTRIBUTING THEIR
"FAIR SHARE" AND REMEMBERING THAT THESE CONTRIBUTIONS WILL BE DIVIDED
AMONG DESERVING ORGANIZATIONS AND SPECIAL PROJECTS THAT SERVE THE
PEOPLE OF OUR COMMUNITY.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set
my hand and caused the Great Seal of the
City of Dubuque to be affixed this 1st day of
August, 2011.
