Dear Andi,
On behalf of the Dubuque City Council, I would like to extend our offer to host the Iowa
League of Cities' Annual Conference in September 2009. We thoroughly enjoyed the
experience as host city in 2000 and believe the outstanding participation at that
conference reflects well on Dubuque.
As you know, our America's River Project is completed and includes the Grand River
Center, a state-of-the-art facility designed to meet conference needs. This has proven
to be an ideal venue to showcase our beautiful riverfront and host quality, professional
conferences.
In addition to the City Council's support, the City of Dubuque will sponsor the use of the
new Grand River Center as requested in the bid description. A City Council member
will be designated at the January 17, 2005 City Council Meeting, and Public Information
Officer Randy Gehl will serve as the City's representative in planning the conference
and host-city activities.
We were pleased to be selected as the 2000 and 2007 conference city and look forward
to bringing guests to Dubuque in the future. I am confident our new facilities will
completely accommodate your conference and be a tremendous hit with participants.
