SUBJECT: Final Acceptance of the Eagle Point Water Plant Elevator ADA Renovation
Improvement Project
Water Department Manager Bob Green is recommending acceptance of the Eagle Point
Water Plant Elevator ADA Renovation Improvement Project, as completed by Klauer
Construction Company, in the final contract amount of $137,447.
I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council
approval.

SUBJECT: Final Acceptance of the Eagle Point Water Plant Elevator ADA
Renovation Improvement Project
INTRODUCTION
This memorandum is for the final acceptance of the Eagle Point Water Plant Elevator
Renovation ADA Project at a final cost of $137,449.
DISCUSSION
On May 26, 2004, the City of Dubuque Water Department entered into an agreement
with Klauer Construction Company of Dubuque, Iowa for the renovation of the Eagle
Point Water Plant's elevator and doorways to comply with ADA Standards.
REQUESTED ACTION
Staff and I are requesting approval and recommendation to the City Council that they
adopt the two resolutions, one approving the project and one approving the final project
cost of $137,449 and authorizing final payment to Klauer Construction Company in the
amount of $6,872.48 in accordance with the State of Iowa Statute. The project was
completed under our estimated budget, but did exceed the contracted amount of
$135,991 by approximately 1 % ($1,458) due to additional material and labor that was
required.

RESOLUTION 37-05
ACCEPTING IMPROVEMENT
WHEREAS, the Contract for the renovation of the Eagle Point Water Plant
Elevator and Doorways have been completed and the City's Consultant Allen and
Urbain Architects, of Dubuque, Iowa recommends acceptance of the project.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF DUBUQUE, IOWA:
Section 1. That the recommendation of the City Manager be approved and that
said improvement be accepted.

RESOLUTION 38-05
FINAL ESTIMATE
WHEREAS, the Contract for the renovation of the Eagle Point Water Plant
Elevator Project, located at 1902 Hawthorne Street, Dubuque, Iowa has been
completed and the City has submitted the final estimate showing the cost thereof.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF DUBUQUE, IOWA:
Section 1. That the cost of said improvement is hereby determined to be
$137,449.
Section 2. That the final payment of $6,872.48 be paid to Klauer Construction
Company of Dubuque, Iowa in accordance with the State Statute from funds in the
Water Department's FY '04 CIP Budget.
