Proclamation_9-11 Memorial Day PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, September 11, 2011, marks the tenth anniversary of the worst attack on the United States of America in history; and WHEREAS, Local Eagle Scout Candidate Luke Arensdorf has raised funds, organized helpers, hired contractors, overseen design and construction, and obtained artifacts from the World Trade Center collapse to create a local memorial of this tragic event and the many lives lost; and WHEREAS, An event to unveil Dubuque’s own 9-11 Memorial Plaza and to celebrate and memorialize the lives lived and lost ten years ago in the attack on America will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2011, at 9:15 AM and continuing throughout the day at the Dubuque County Emergency Responder Training Facility on Public Safety Way in Dubuque; and WHEREAS, All are invited to attend. NOW THEREFORE, I, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 2011, AS “9-11 MEMORIAL DAY” IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, AND URGE ALL CITIZENS TO ATTEND THE CEREMONIIES OR PAUSE TO REMEMBER THE LOSS OF LIFE ON THAT TRAGIC DAY.
