Proclamation_Voices from the Warehouse VII
PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, is a
Voices from the Warehouse District VII: ReVolt – Re-Energize Art in America
call to enrich the lives of Dubuque’s citizens, foster appreciation of arts and
culture in the Tri-State region, welcome many new residents to Dubuque, and
increase awareness about the growth of creative industries in the Historic
Millwork District through art exhibitions, theatre, musical events, film, and
educational programs; and
WHEREAS, provides a unique cultural opportunity for people of all ages, incomes
Voices
and ethnicities to come together and experience a wide variety of art and
educational programs and understand more about the planned future growth in
the Historic Millwork District; and
WHEREAS, the 2011 exhibitionpresents site-specific installation art by thirteen
Voices
national and regional artists, and will also present a tribute entitled
special
“Voices Echo 9/11” featuring thematic work by ten local and regional artists;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Dubuque joins with
Voices from the Warehouse District VII: ReVolt –
in welcoming and recognizing the artists, mentors,
Re-Energize Art in America
musicians, students, hundreds of volunteers, and many visitors who are
contributing to the growth and economic impact of the arts in Dubuque’s
Historic Millwork District.
NOW THEREFORE, I, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, ON BEHALF
OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM
SEPTEMBER 10 THROUGH OCTOBER 7, 2011 AS
“VOICES FROM THE WAREHOUSE DISTRICT VII: REVOLT: RE-
ENERGIZE ART IN AMERICA DAYS”
IN DUBUQUE, IOWA, AS OUR COMMUNITY COMES TOGETHER TO ADVANCE AND PROMOTE
AWARENESS AND UNDERSTANDING ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE AND SIGNIFICANCE OF
ARTS AND CULTURE AND GROWTH IN OUR HISTORIC MILLWORK DISTRICT.
