John F. Michalski Resignation from Long Range Planning Advisory Commission
19 July, 2000
The Honorable Mayor and City Council
City Hall
Dubuque, IA 52001
Dear Mayor and Council Members:
It is with regret that I am writing to resign my seat on the Dubuque Long-Range Planning
Commission. My wife and 1 are re-Iocating to Milwaukee at the end of this week and,
obviously, this new development makes my continued membership impossible.
Actually, the reasons fur our move are the same as those I gave for wanting to serve on
the commission in the first place. In particular, after seven months of searching we were
unable to find the sorts of career opportunities that we need. Joan has been offered a very
exciting position in Milwaukee, and we do not feel we can pass on it. It is my sincere
hope that Dubuquers will soon enjoy the expanded possibilities in their economic and
social lives that the Commission and city government are working to create.
Unfortunately, however, this work did not bear fruit quickly enough to enable us to stay
here.
I am grateful for the honor done me by the city council in appointing me to this fine
commission. I have enjoyed my short tenure, and the opportunity it has given me to work
with other committed citizens for the future of Dubuque. I look forward to hearing much
about the great things that will happen in this city in the future.
Sincerely,
John F. Michalski
