WHEREAS, Ride to the River, Inc., have dedicated their services for the last four
years to helping those less fortunate; and
WHEREAS, This year the beneficiaries are two camps that cater to the
physically and mentally challenged - Camp Courageous and Camp
Albrecht Acres; and
WHEREAS, Ride to the River, Inc., will be hosting over 2,000 participants
through the Ride to the River Day activities on August 26, 2000;
and
WHEREAS, River to the River, Inc., invites everyone in thetri-states to meet at
the Diamond Jo to partake in the day's festivities.
NOW THEREFORE, I, TERRANCE M. DUGGAN, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF
DUBUQUE DO HEREBY PROCLAIM AUGUST 26, 2000, TO BE:

Dear City Council Members:
We at the Ride to the River Inc. ask that you proclaim August 26, 2000 as Ride to the River Day.
For the past 4 years we have dedicated our services to helping those less fortunate. This year our beneficiaries are
two camps that cater to the physically and mentally challenged. Camp Courageous and Camp Alhrecht Acres.
We at the Ride to the River Inc. believe that help starts at home. Having an event of this size not only raises funds
for both camps, but increases tourism for the city. We expect to host over 2000 participants throughout the days
activities. With having a car, truck and motorcycle show, followed by a pledge ride, silent and live auctions and of
course the giveaway of all giveaways.......the limited edition Harley Davidson Ford F-150 pickup truck with the
Harley Davidson Ultra Classic motorcycle to one winner!! !(a $58,000 package). We will have a bicycle route and
give away a $1,500.00 Giant mountain bicycle. And of course live bands along with a steak dinner will be offered!
August 26,2000 will be a day for the whole family. We invite everyone in the tri-states to meet us at the Diamond
Jo to par-take in the days festivities..8am tilllpm.
