Dear Mr. Mayor and Members of the Council:
It has recently been brought to my attention.th~t t!t~rF.is a problem in Dubuque County with
duplicate street names within cities or in the!llliQc9rP9rated area of the County.
As a component of the effort to implent~!'!t~.9tl iU!le County, the County embarked on a
process to officially name roads in the uqmc()rpprateg .. .. s in 1985 in order to eliminate
duplicate road and street names and to facilitatedispatcl1iqg of emergency vehicles.
I am now inquiring whether the cities in the County will refer plat approvals to the County for a
search on duplicate or simil ing names to minimize duplication prior to City Council
approval of the plats. Pleas this matter to your City Council for their discussion and
approval. I believe that this may be another way to work together to insure the safety of our
people
