SUBJECT: Addendum to Contract with Vedi Associates for Redesign and
Rebid of the Third Street Parking Ramp
Parking System Supervisor Cindy Steinhauser is recommending approval of a
$50,000 addendum to the contract with Vedi Associates for redesign and rebid of
the Third Street Parking Ramp. This work has been completed and the construction
contract has been awarded.
I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council
approval.

Street parking ramp.
Discussion
On November 15, 2000, City Council awarded a contract to Vedi Associates for the
design of the Third Street parking ramp. The total proposed fee for their services was
$275,500 of which $245,000 are the Architectural/Engineering fees and $30,500 are
reimbursable expenses for soil boring and testing. On May 9, 2000 a bid opening was
held and one bid was received that was $3,128,700.00 over the project budget. On May
15,2000 the City Council rejected the bid and directed staff to work with the consultant
to redesign and rebid the project. Based upon this direction, Vedi Associates estimated
that the added costs to redesign and rebid the project are $50,000.00 ($40,000.00 for
redesign and $10,000.00 for rebid).
Attached is Addendum One to the City's contract with Vedi Associates for redesign and
rebid of the Third Street parking ramp. The new contract amount will be $325,500 which
includes $295,000 for Architectural! Engineering fees and $30,500 for soil boring and
testing.
Action
The requested action is for City Council to authorize the City Manager to sign the
attached addendum to the contract with Vedi Associates on behalf of the City of
Dubuque.

ATTACHMENT "A" ADDENDUMQNE TO THE CONTRACT
This agreemenl is entered into record as Addendum Number One 10 thc contract dated
January 17,2000 between the City of Duhuque and Vedi Associates for the design of the
Third Street Parking Facility.
This addendum serves to amendment the original contmet sum to Vedi Associates. This
amcndment establishes a fee of $40,000.00 lor the redesign and a lee of $10,000.00 for
the rebid of the Third Street Parking Facility in Dubuque, Iowa.
The sum of$50,000.OO is added to the $275,500.00. Therefore the total contract amount
established between Vedi Associates, Inc. and the City of Dubuque, Iowa to be
$325,500.00.
The parlies to that Agreement agree to modify the Agreement by the above delineated
Additional Service and modifications. This Addendum is dated this lllb day of Julv in
