SUBJECT: St. Luke's United Methodist Church--1199 Main Street
Building Services Manager Rich Russell is recommending approval of a demolition
permit for a garage at St. Luke's United Methodist Church at 1199 Main Street.
I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council
approval.

RE: St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 1199 Main Street
INTRODUCTION: The purpose of this memo is to advise you that the Building Services
Department has received an application for demolition of a garage at the above-listed property.
The property is located within the Jackson Park neighborhood.
BACKGROUND: Section 11-4 ofthe Code of Ordinances requires that the City Council be
notified of any requests for demolition permits within this neighborhood.
ALTERNATIVES: Per Section 11-4(b), the Council has the following options: 1) Approve the
permit or 2) Withhold the permit for up to 90 days to determine the historical significance, if
any, and any actions deemed appropriate to ensure/encourage its preservation.
CONCLUSION: The permit to demolish will be issued subsequent to the next City Council
meeting, unless direction to withhold the permit is received.
ACTION REQUIRED: Please advise the City Council of this request and seek their input at the
next regularly-scheduled City Council meeting.
