Approximately 18 months ago, a bid package was awarded by the City Council to Ram for repairs to the Port of Dubuque Ramp. Pending the outcome of the litigation, it was determined that a certain portion of the original contract should be placed on hold due to the discussion on the type of repairs to be done. Following the settlement agreement, the scope of the original contract has not changed however the quantities of work required has changed substantially. Subsequently, I have asked RAM Construction Services to provide me with a change order representing all of the deducts for the work that we had delayed and then provide me with the cost of the work they will now be performing. The original contract was for $213,900.00 and this adjustment reflects a net increase in the contract of $38,400 with a new contract total of $252,300.00 All of this work is being performed to accommodate all of the City of Dubuque's obligations under the settlement agreement and in oversight of our engineering consultants for the litigation and project remediation, Tourney Consulting Group. City Attorney Barry Lindahl has been kept informed of the process and is in agreement with all of the proposed repairs being completed at this time. We have tentatively scheduled repairs to take place during the week of September 12, 2011. Please review the attached Change Order and approve if you see appropriate.
