INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this memo is to request approval for the City Council to reallocate funds
to pay for the removal and replacement of the existing roof of the University of Dubuque
hangar and the current furnace and NC unit for the FBO area of the Jet Center
Building.
DISCUSSION
The existing roof on the University of Dubuque Hangar is 20+ years old and needs to be
replaced. Under the agreement with University of Dubuque this is a landlord (City)
responsibility. The roof had not been programmed for replacement this year. However, it
needs to be done as soon as possible to preclude damage to their offices and parts
rooms. We have a quote from Jim Giese Roofing is $45,640 for this work.
The current furnace and NC unit for the FBO area of the Jet Center Building is over
20 years old and is in need of replacement. We have a quote from All Seasons to
replace these units for $11,517.
RECOMMENDATION
If you approve, I request City Council reallocate the following funds:
Roof - CIP 3902127 (Chlorine System Update) combined with CIP 3902008 (Hangar
Repairs /Replace).
Furnace /Air Conditioning - CIP 3902123 (FBO Hangar Heating System)
BUDGET IMPACT
Roof - $14,027 from CIP 3902127 (Chlorine System Update) combined with $31,613 in
CIP 3902008 (Hangar Repairs /Replace) will cover the $45,640 cost of the roof.
Furnace /Air Conditioning - CIP 3902123 (FBO Hangar Heating System) has a
remaining amount of $8,093. We would have enough to replace these units by
combining this with the $3,594 we already have encumbered to replace the air
conditioning unit.
ACTION TO BE TAKEN
I respectfully request the City Council approve the reallocation of funds.
