Van Milligen, City Manager SUBJECT: Acting Lead Public Safety Dispatcher Pay DATE: September 26, 2011 Dubuque Al- Americacny 2007 Personnel Manager Randy Peck recommends City Council approval of an amendment to the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #234, which provides for an additional $1.00 per hour of compensation to a public safety dispatcher who is placed in charge of a shift when there is no lead public safety dispatcher on duty. Van Milligen, City Manager FROM: Randy Peck, Personnel Manager SUBJECT: Acting Lead Public Safety Dispatcher Pay DATE: September 23, 2011 Dubuque Irthrg A9- AmericaCky 2007 During the negotiations for Fiscal Year 2012, the City and the Operating Engineers Union discussed the possibility of compensating public safety dispatchers when they are placed in charge of a shift when there is no lead public safety dispatcher on duty. The parties have agreed to compensate public safety dispatchers for these duties in the amount of $1.00 per hour when they are acting as the lead dispatcher. The annual additional cost is estimated at $4,400. Sufficient funds are available in the Emergency Communications Department budget to finance this change. The requested action is for the City Council to approve a motion authorizing you to sign the attached Amendment to the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
