Proclamation_Trick or Treat October 31, 2011
PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, cornstalks, Indian corn, pumpkins and a golden moon will herald the
cool weather of autumn and the entertaining holiday of Halloween;
and
WHEREAS, Halloween is the fun time of year when young and old become
creative and emerge as ghosts, devils, witches, cartoon characters,
caped crusaders, or action heroes; and
WHEREAS, all manner of delightful costumed individuals go from house to
house on their annual pilgrimage for candy and treats, heralding
their arrival with a jesting "Trick or Treat"; and
WHEREAS, those at home anxiously await the return of boys and girls with their
bags of goodies and enjoy sharing in the collected treats.
NOW THEREFORE, I, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA,
ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE, DO
HEREBY PROCLAIM MONDAY, OCTOBER 31, 2011, DURING THE HOURS OF 5:30
TO 7:30 PM AS:
"TRICK-OR-TREAT NIGHT"
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, AND URGE ALL MOTORIST TO BE EVER
WATCHFUL OF OUR YOUNGSTERS MAKING THEIR ANNUAL ROUNDS.
