Public Works Director Mike Koch has provided information that the contractor is
using the A. Y. McDonald valves requested by the petitioner in the Douglas,
Parkway, Langworthy and College Streets area.
I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council
approval.

SUBJECT: 2000 P.C. Concrete Paving Project, A.Y. McDonald Valves
INTRODUCTION
The 2000 P,C. Concrete Paving Project - No.1 includes the reconstruction of Douglas,
Parkway, Langworthy, and College Streets. Several water stop boxes will be replaced
as part of this project. On July 5, 2000, the City received a petition from several
residents regarding the type of water stop boxes which will be utilized on the project.
The typical City specifications for water stop boxes allow the installation of a Tyler
water stop box or an A.Y. McDonald stop box, both being equal in quality. This was
also discussed at the public meetings regarding the project.
Even though the project has already been bid, the contractor on the project, Horsfield
Construction has indicated that they will be using A.Y. McDonald stop boxes
exclusively on this project.
ACTION TO BE TAKEN
Since the contractor has already made the decision to use A.Y. McDonald stop boxes
on the project, the petition has no bearing on the project, and no action is required on
the part of the City in response to the petition, other than to notify the petitioner of
this development in the project.
