"'t8.e i nroi*bs C44'Kbri1 q City Hall 50 West 13th Street Dubuque, Iowa 52001 -4864 Dear Mayor Buol: U.S. Department of Homeland Security Region VII 9221 Ward Parkway, Suite 300 Kansas City, MO 64114 -3372 FEMA The Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is producing a countywide Flood Insurance Study (FIS) report and Digital Flood Insurance Rate Map (DFIRM) for Dubuque County, Iowa. As part of this effort, we requested that information on the Dubuque Local Flood Protection Project Levee be submitted in order to accredit it for base (one - percent - annual- chance) flood protection on the new DFIRM. On May 31, 2011, FEMA received materials that the City of Dubuque submitted in support of the Dubuque Local Flood Protection Project Levee's accreditation. The materials were submitted to demonstrate the Dubuque Local Flood Protection Project Levee's compliance with the minimum certification requirements outlined in Title 44 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Section 65.10 (44 CFR 65.10). FEMA has reviewed and accepted the Dubuque Local Flood Protection Project Levee materials as complying with 44 CFR 65.10. A Physical Map Revision mapping project for Dubuque County, Iowa, has been initiated to remove the Provisionally Accredited Levee (PAL) designation to show the Dubuque Local Flood Protection Project Levee as fully accredited.
