Dear Ms. Michels:
This letter is to state the City of Dubuque's strong support for the actions of the
Dubuque Girls Independent League in developing a softball complex as part of the
Riprow Valley Recreation Area project. The development of the softball complex will
provide many new opportunities for the growing numbers of girls interested in
participating in the league. The softball complex development will also complement the
creation of a prairie and nature area between the softball complex and the Mississippi
River and natural scenery of the wooded bluffs in the Riprow Valley and the Mines of
Spain.
The City of Dubuque appreciates your participation as a community partner in the
acquisition and development of the Riprow Valley area. This project shows how many
public and private stakeholders can work together and increase the quality of life for the
youth of our community.
City staff is preparing a property lease for the site of the softball complex and will be
bringing it to the City Council in the future for their consideration.
We are confident in your organization's ability to timely develop and maintain the
Riprow Valley Recreation Area. The City, along with your many other partners in this
venture, anxious and willing to partner in the development of this great project.
