Before we can utilize the money we need to hold a public hearing. The funds also need to be recorded as a budget amendment and be assigned an account number. BUDGET IMP ACT The 1999 Block Grant award is $35,845 Our local 1 0% match is 3,585 Total $39,430 Our intention is to use the funds in the following areas and amounts: Overtime Crime Prevention Equipment $10,000 $ 8,000 $17,845 Total $35,845 The local match funds would supplement one of these three areas as needed. RECOMMENDA TION I ask that you add our request for a public hearing to the next City Council agenda so they can set a hearing date, and that the grant funds be recorded as a budget amendment and assigned an account number. Re: 2000 Block Grant Funds INTRODUCTION On Thursday August 31, 2000, we learned that we have been awarded block grant funds for the year 2000 that we are ready to commit to the uses described below. The funds need to be recorded as a budget amendment, be assigned an account number and be scheduled for a public hearing. BUDGET IMPACT The 2000 Block Grant award is $29,604 Our local 10% match is 3,289 Total $32,893 Our intention is to use the funds in the following areas and amounts: Overtime Crime Prevention Equipment $10,000 $ 5,000 $14,604 Total $29,604 The local match funds would supplement one of these three areas as needed. RECOMMENDATION I ask that the request for a public hearing on these year 2000 funds be added to the council agenda for September 18,2000, so they can be considered along with the1999 block grant funds, which are already on that agenda.
