Minutes Airport comm. 2 28 05 DUBUQUE REGIONAL AIRPORT COMMISSION MEETING Monday, February 28, 2005 4:00 p.m. Dubuque Regional Airport Dubuque Jet Center Conference Room PRESENT: Jim O'Neill, Dan Nicholson and Doug Brotherton. ABSENT: Teri Goodman and Steve Accinelli. STAFF: Andrew Perry, Peggy Dickson Gordy Vetsch and Todd Dalsing GUESTS: Bob Boleyn (TSA) Doug Brotherton chaired the meeting NEW BUSINESS: 01. lOOT VERTICAL INFRASTRUCTURE AGREEMENT: The Commission was asked to approve Resolution A100-1-05 endorsing lOOT Infrastructure Program and submitting a project application for hangar renovation/construction and new terminal building. If the program is funded, lOOT will send a contract for signature. Jim O'Neill moved to approve this resolution. This motion was seconded by Dan Nicholson. AYES: All. NAYS: None. 02. CMT SNOW REMOVAL EQUIPMENT BUILDING ENGINEERING AGREEMENT: The Commission discussed the new Snow Removal Equipment (SRE) building. Andy said the funding for the construction had been released by the FAA and asked for approval to start the engineering with construction after July 1, 2005 when the city match is available. Dan Nicholson made a motion to approve this CMT engineering contract. This motion was seconded by Jim O'Neill. AYES: All. NAYS: None. 03. IWI BOX HANGAR ENINGEERING AGREEMENT: There is money currently programmed and available through lOOT's Vertical Infrastructure for box hangar construction. Andy said the estimate looks high but until the engineering is prepared and the bids are received, we will not know how many hangars can be built. He is hoping for three. The Commission agreed the project estimates looked high for the type of construction planned. The Americas hangar bid came in low and everyone hoped the same will be true for these hangars. Dan Nicholson made a motion to approve the IWI engineering agreement. This was seconded by Jim O'Neill. AYES: All. NAYS: None. AIRPORT MANAGER'S REPORT: ~ UpcominQ Fly-Ins: The Manager advised the Commission the University of Dubuque's Flight Team was holding their annual pancake breakfast on April 24, 2005. B. IPM Day on the Hill Andy told the Commission he had very productive meetings, they have been working on a 3 million dollars appropriation for air service under economic development and met with several Iowa legislators to discuss airport zoning. C. Employee Update Andy told the Commission the FBO has a new part time line service employee, Steve Weisz. Also a new baby, Jason Gillett (Operations) and his wife Heather had their first, a boy, last Friday. D. Next MeetinQ Andy reminded the Commission the next meeting would be the day after Easter and asked if it would pose a problem for any Commission members. The consensus was the meeting date would not be changed. 07. CORRESPONDENCE: Jim O'Neill asked to have Ken Kraemer's name removed from lOOT's Aviation Bulletin mailing list. 08. PUBLIC INPUT There was a question regarding the status of the computers and wireless network. Andy told the Commission the airport had applied to lOOT for a grant to cover a wireless hookup for the terminal area. Doug Brotherton presented Andy with an award from the Dale Carnegie course signed by the entire Airport Commission. Jim O'Neill said he wanted to recognize Andy's work and thank him for a great job in Washington. Jim mentioned Andy's letter from Mike Van Milligen thanking him for a good presentation, and said he had talked with several other delegates who said Andy had done well in Washington. The Airport received a plaque for their assistance to the Iowa Chapter of 99's in painting the compass rose on the ramp. Andy said he had been waiting for Terry Mozena to get back to him with some information before sending out the press release.. Bob Boleyn, TSA, said all lighters would be prohibited from sterile areas and on aircraft as of April 14, 2005. This includes your person, carry on's or checked baggage. Jim O'Neill moved to adjourn.
