Dear Ms. Carstens and Mr. DeJong,
Congratulations!! The judges for 1000 Friends of Iowa Best Development Awards have
named Dubuque Initiatives the winner in the Best Renovated Commercial /Civic category for
the adaptive re -use of the Roshek Building. The judges praised this project as an amazing
collaborative effort to quickly adapt an existing downtown building for other uses that benefit
the larger community.
An awards ceremony will be held for the Best Development winners at 1000 Friends of Iowa
Annual meeting on November 12, which will be held at the Hotel Greenfield in Greenfield,
Iowa. We invite representatives from Dubuque Initiatives to attend the meeting as our
honored guest(s). I will forward you information about the annual meeting in a separate email.
Please let me know if you and /or others from your organization plan to attend to accept the
award. Once all winners have been notified, we will be issuing a press release to the media
contacts you provided and to other statewide news outlets. Your project will also be
highlighted on a 1000 Friends of Iowa exhibit that we take with us to events and exhibitions
throughout the year.
