CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA
MEMORANDUM
September 25, 2000
TO: Michael C. Van Milligen, City Manager
Michael A. Koch, Public Works Director ?Jt..-l j(~
FROM:
SUBJECT: Montcrest Petition
INTRODUCTION
This is in response to ~ petition from several residents in the area of Montcrest Street
to keep the street open to vehicular traffic.
DISCUSSION
While sanitary sewer and paving repairs were being performed on Montcrest from
August 24, 2000 to August 30, 2000, Mrs. Mary Lange proposed that the street
could potentially be vacated and closed. Upon her contacting the City and having
completed the sewer repairs, the City decided to delay the street restoration and
repairs until Mrs. Lange could determine the extent of support of her neighbors, if any,
for this closure.
While she was developing a petition to close the street, another group was also
initiating a petition to keep the street open. This petition was received by the City
Clerk on September 8, 2000.
RECOMMENDA TION
Mrs. Lange has decided no longer to pursue the vacating and closure of Montcrest and
will not be filing her petition.
ACTION TO BE TAKEN
The City Council is recommended to receive and file the September 8, 2000 petition
to keep the street open. No further action is required.
