Attached is Amendment 2 to the June 6, 2009 Professional Services Agreement for
geotechnical engineering services between Allender Butzke Engineers, Inc. (ABE) and
the City for the Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP) Replacement Project (Project).
The attached proposal will provide for ABE to perform six (6) test borings of 20 to 30
feet deep to further assess the extent of the outfall pipe deterioration.
This amendment of $5,900 will be taken from the current contingency of $1,104,829.18.
ACTION TO BE TAKEN
Your execution of Amendment 2 to the June 6, 2009 ABE Professional Services
Agreement is requested. Upon execution of the noted documents, please return to the
Engineering Department for further processing.

SCOPE: Geotechnical Exploration - Mobilization with truck mounted drilling equipment, boring locations,
utility locations (Iowa One Call), drill and sample 6 test borings 20 to 30 feet deep, install 3
temporary piezometers, laboratory testing, engineering analysis, and written report.
COMPENSATION TERMS: Total cost for above scope of services will be $5,900. The field exploration cost
presented above assumes all drilling will be in soil materials. Extra charges of $25.00 per foot will
apply for drilling in hard limestone bedrock, if encountered. Consultation subsequent to completion
of report at current engineering rates.
REMARKS: Field exploration is scheduled to be conducted within the next few weeks when we have a drill
crew in the Dubuque area as weather permits. A verbal report of our findings and initial
recommendations will be available one week after drilling, followed one to two weeks later with the
written report.
Services covered by this 2nd Amendment will be performed in accordance with the Terms and Conditions ofthe original
2009 Agreement for Geotechnical Services between the City of Dubuque (Project No. 7101837, Purchase Order
00049457) and Allender Butzke Engineers Inc. (ABE PN 091207)
