ORDINANCE NO.104-00
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CITY OF DUBUQUE CODE OF
ORDINANCES BY ADDING A NEW SECTION 32-267.2 PROVIDING FOR
THE ESTABLISHMENT OF PARKING RESTRICTIONS FOR TRUCKS OR
TRAILERS ON DESIGNATED STREETS OR PORTIONS THEREOF AND
ADDING CERTAIN PORTIONS OF HAWTHORNE STREET
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
DUBUQUE, IOWA:
Section 1. That the Code of Ordinances of the City of Dubuque, Iowa, be amended
by adding the following new Section 32-267.2 thereof as follows:
"Sec.32-267.2
"Parking Restriction for Trucks and Trailers on Designated
Streets or Portions Thereof".
Where spaces have been designated by signs or markings for "No Truck or Trailer
Parking", it shall be unlawful for the operator of any such vehicle to stop, stand or park in
the following areas:

Hawthorne Street, north side, from the railroad tracks to a point forty (40) feet east
of Kerper Boulevard.

DUBUQUE CODE OF ORDINANCES, PROHIBITING PARKING ON
DESIGNATED STREETS OR PORTIONS THEREOF BY DELETING
HAWTHORNE STREET
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
DUBUQUE, IOWA:
Section 1. The City of Dubuque Code of Ordinances is amended by deleting from
Subsection (d) of Section 32-262 the following:
Hawthorne Street, north side, from Rhomberg Avenue to Kerper Boulevard.

As directed at the November 6 City Council Meeting, Public Works Director Mike Koch is
recommending adoption of an ordinance prohibiting truck or trailer parking on the north side of
Hawthorne Street from the railroad tracks east to 15 feet east ofthe easterly-most entrance to
Sutton Pool and to prohibit all parking within 15 feet of either side of the Eagle Point Water
Plant drive and the three drives at Sutton Pool.

SUBJECT: Hawthorne "No Truck or Trailer Parking" Zone
INTRODUCTION
The enclosed resolution provides for the creation of a "No Truck or Trailer"
parking zone on Hawthorne Street adjacent to the Eagle Point Water Plant, in
response to safety concerns expressed by Water Plant employees while exiting
the driveways from the Water Plant.

DISCUSSION
This matter was discussed by the City Council at its meeting on November 6,
2000, at which time the Council decided to prohibit truck or trailer parking on the
north side of Hawthorne Street from the railroad tracks east to 15 feet east from
the easterly most entrance to Sutton Pool and to prohibit parking within 15 feet of
either side of the Eagle Point Water Plant drive and the three drives at Sutton
Pool.
Enclosed is an ordinance for removing Hawthorne Street from the list of streets
where parking is prohibited, and substituting in lieu thereof an ordinance creating
a new Section 32-267.2, providing for parking restrictions for "trucks or trailers"
on certain streets.
The ordinance prohibits truck or trailer parking on the south side of Hawthorne
Street, from the railroad tracks to a point 40 feet east of Kerper Boulevard.
RECOMMENDATION
.
The decision to restrict the parking of trucks or trailers on Hawthorne Street was
made at the regular City Council meeting of November 6, 2000. The enclosed
ordinances provide for the official adoption of the ordinances and enacting this
parking prohibition.

ACTION TO BE TAKEN
The City Council is requested to adopt the two attached ordinances prohibiting
truck or trailer parking on the north side of Hawthorne Street.
