PROCLAMA TION
WHEREAS, the University of Dubuque's mission states its commitment to,
excellence in academic inquiry and professional preparation,
relationships which encourage intellectual, spiritual and moral
development, stewardship of all God's human and natural resources,
and a zeal for life-long learning and service; and
WHEREAS, in keeping with that mission, students enrolled in the University's
World View Seminar 2 are required to engage and participate in a
service learning project that will have impact in the Dubuque
community; and
WHEREAS, these community service projects specifically target current service
organizations working in Dubuque, such as Red Cross, Goodwill, Big
Brothers/Big Sisters, National Alzheimer's Association, NAACP, The
Heifer Project, Habitat for Humanity, and others. Helping them will
deliver results that make life in Dubuque more fulfilling for all our
citizens; and
WHEREAS, these students are making a difference in the Dubuque community
by dedicating themselves to service of their fellow citizens.
NOW THEREFORE, I, TERRANCE M. DUGGAN, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF
DUBUQUE, IOWA, DO HEREBY COMMEND THE STUDENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY
OF DUBUQUE, ESPECIALLY THOSE ENROLLED IN THE UNIVERSITY'S WORLD
VIEW SEMINAR 2, WHICH ARE INVOLVED IN HANDS-ON WORK WITH VARIOUS
SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS AND COMMITMENT TO BETTERING OUR
COMMUNITY.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set
my hand and caused the Great Seal of the
City of Dubuque to be affixed this 4th day of
