CHAIR: Tom Giese MEMBERS PRESENT: Mike Kelly, Harlan Willenborg, Jack Papin, Tom Giese, MEMBERS ABSENT: Grothe, Bandy, and Geisler STAFF: Tom Reed MEDIA: None OTHERS: Dennis Willett -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Meeting called to order by Tom Giese at 4:05 P.M. Copy of IRC handed out to members present with updated license list. Discussion was held on Kitchen Hood Clearance references being made to both Uniform and International Mechanical Codes. The difficulty in maintaining required clearances from combustible material in reference to a kitchen hood, specifically the ceiling, which in older existing structures has wood ceiling/floor members. After reviewing both codes and their tables on reducing clearances, Tom Giese and Dennis Willett both offered that Lyle Grant, retired Mechanical Inspector, allowed two layers of 5/8" sheet rock with staggered joints mounted to existing ceiling covered with cleanable, non absorbent non combustible material. Also, a 3" space to hood is required. This method would be acceptable to reduce the 18" clearance required to combustibles. The motion passed 4-0. The Board then approved Certificate of Registration for John McDonald d/b/a JMC Specialties. He was given No. 173. The Board also signed Certificates of Competency applications. Harlan Willenborg motioned to adjourn, seconded by Jack Papin. Meeting adjourned at 5:15 P.M. , ..... ~/ ~ . LAY T O~~;;d, / ec~eta~' Approved this day of 2005. Chairperson
