RE: Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program
Dear Mayor and City Council Members:
The Historic Preservation Commission has discussed the President's planned funding
cuts to the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, and the City's
efforts to retain the funding for this important program.
The CDBG Program has been important for historic preservation projects as well as
community and economic development, housing, and neighborhood reyitalization
programs that improve the quality of life in our community generally and in low to
moderate income neighborhoods in particular. All five of the City's historic districts are
in CDBG target areas, and all have benefited from the City's CDBG programs.
The Historic Preservation Commission applauds the City Council for your continuing
support of the CDBG program during this period of threatened cuts. If the Historic
Preservation Commission can assist with these efforts, please let us know.
Sincerely,
~\d ~~~
